About
Harry Conneally is an award-winning Bachelor of Fine Art graduate and current honours student at Curtin University, specializing in painting, drawing, and printmaking. His work navigates the intersections of time, memory, and geography, examining how memory becomes fragmented over time, shaping our perception of place and presence. Through both traditional and digital processes, he reconstructs fragmented landscapes and memories, revealing what is lost, overlooked, or erased by time through recollection.
In his printmaking practice, he explores the theme of a fractured memory over a prolonged period away from home, focussing on how the memories of his past life in the UK are difficult to discern. Using solvent transfer, etching and screen-printing methods, the body of work explores the nature of memory through my own subjective experience. In an increasingly globalised world, the aim is to discover how time reforms memory connections and explore what abstract effects this has on materials while making.
In painting and drawing, he turns his focus to the loneliness embedded in memories lost to time. The compositions evoke the confusion and difficulty within me navigating the emotional distance from the UK, where mnemonic presence often replaces genuine human connection. Through layered textures, fragmented forms, and expressive mark-making, he aims to capture this alienation within old Formula 1 broadcast imagery.
